BLAIR WANTS TO SPLIT THE LABOUR PARTY AND JOIN WITH REMAIN TORIES AND LIB-DEMS!
THE DEPTH of the crisis of the UK ruling class can be gauged by the fact that they have been forced to bring the completely discredited Tony Blair into the fight to try to prevent a Corbyn-led Labour government in the UK.
Blair should be in The Hague in prison for war crimes after he took the UK to war in Iraq, a war that led to hundreds of thousands of corpses and created the conditions for the emergence of Isis; a war that was based on lies – that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.
His conduct in Iraq and his support for banking deregulation that led to the 2008 crash, plus the export of jobs from the UK, changed the way that the working class looks at its ‘leaders’ and the leaders of bourgeois society, the bosses and bankers.
After Blair, the workers took it for granted that their leaders were liars, who had sold them out to the bankers, and those two admirers of Blair, the Tories Cameron and Osborne, paid the price when they completely misjudged the situation and called the EU referendum. Workers took great delight in voting Leave and forcing the two Blair admirers out of office, severely wounding the Tory party in the process.
The crisis of the ruling class can be somewhat measured by the fact that the odious Blair has been selected to come forward to suggest that such is the support in the working class for Corbyn, the right wing will not be able to remove him, and that unless a new party is founded that can fight him, a Corbyn government is inevitable.
Another SDP breakaway will not suffice, since the Tory party itself is split and may well break apart as the civil war between Leavers and Remainers develops. This is not the 1980s, when the SDP split away from Labour to split the Labour vote to allow Thatcher to win two general elections.
The Tory Party itself is breaking apart, as the Dave Davis-Nigel Farage ‘Leave Means Leave’ rallies will show, plus the leadership election that Johnson intends to force.
What Blair wants is for the right wing to break with the Labour Party and unite with the Remain wing of the Tory party, the Lib-Dems and the SNP to form a national unity government and remain in the European Union.
One of the authors of the Iraq slaughter, Blair, is now proposing manufacturing a counter-revolutionary government in the UK! Such an attempt will not have the support of the working class.
As Blair observes of the Labour Party, ‘It is a different type of Labour Party.’ He added: ‘I don’t think the British people will tolerate a situation where, for example, the choice at the next election is Boris Johnson versus Jeremy Corbyn. ‘I don’t know what will happen and I don’t know how it will happen.’ No doubt he will receive instructions when the time comes for that.
However, this is not the 1980s now. Workers have had their living standards smashed and their lives ruined by the Blairs, the Browns, the Camerons and the Mays, their 2008 banking crash and then the 10 years of super-austerity. The workers see a Corbyn government as the beginning of the way to get back all that has been taken from them. They have no great illusions in the reformist Corbyn.
However, they will not let the bosses smash him. They want to open up the way to regain their living standards and carry out socialist policies to expropriate the bosses and bankers. This is why the ‘anti-Semite’ witch hunt just bounced off Corbyn. The TUC Congress begins on Sunday. It must give a Corbyn-led government its 100% support. It must also see off the Tories. It must call a general strike to bring down the May government and bring in a Corbyn-led Labour government.
This must carry out its 2017 general election promises to break with the EU, its customs union and single market, recognise the state of Palestine, abolish student loans and debt, and renationalise the railways. It must also return the Chagos Islanders to their home from which they were shamefully evicted by the Wilson Labour government. These policies will begin the socialist revolution in the UK.
