Cameron to sack Gove as IMF warns economy heading for adverse shocks

THE knives are out for one-time Tory Party hero Michael Gove, the self-styled ‘hammer of the teaching trade unions’, who has had the temerity to suggest that since the European Court rules over the EU, Cameron’s assurances that the agreement he has made with a group of EU leaders is legally binding are worthless.

Gove is now scheduled to be removed as Justice Secretary in the weeks following the in-out referendum. However, as the Tory civil war is stepped up, he may go well before then.

Of course, if Cameron loses the referendum, the PM will be the one to go, as the UK plunges into a revolutionary ferment. Meanwhile, Boris Johnson is furious with the allegation that is being peddled that he is just a rotten opportunist who will go to any length to get the top job in the Tory Party and government.

Obviously, as the Referendum campaign gets going and as the hysteria level rises, the first Tory head to roll will be well before Referendum Day. Downing Street is also in deep trouble with the military leadership after a letter was published that suggested the GB is Great Britain no more, and the only real defence of the UK can be conducted from within the walls of fortress European Union.

Field Marshall Lord Bramall has alleged that he was presented with a fait accompli by 10 Downing Street and that the letter from the generals and Field Marshalls was ‘not the kind of letter I would have originated myself’.

General Sir Michael Rose, a former director of special forces, was included on the letter after an ‘administrative error’. Rose had been sent a draft of the letter but hadn’t replied, and was preparing to reply with a ‘contrary argument’.

So in the first week of the campaign, Cameron and Co have set out to openly split the Tory Party and have managed to split the general staff. Meanwhile, the EU as a whole is plunging into deeper internal crisis over the millions of refugees made homeless by imperialist wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria who are continuing to travel westwards, and are now being treated as enemies by the EU, while the EU states turn on each other.

NATO and EU ships are now working with Turkish and Greek coastguards to turn the refugees back. A French judge is to decide whether to let the CRS riot police and army loose to smash the Calais ‘Jungle’ refugee camp while Austria and its Balkan partners are now fingerprinting all entrants and turning back anyone without a passport or holding fake documents.

Greece, already bankrupted by the EU’s austerity programme, has threatened to block all decisions at the EU migration summit next month if member states move Schengen north of its borders and turn Greece into one big EU refugee camp. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said his country was turning into a ‘permanent warehouse of souls’.

‘From now on, Greece will not agree to deals if we do not secure the mandatory sharing of the burden and responsibility proportionally among member states.’ The EU is breaking apart at the seams.

Already hit hard by the impact of the world capitalist crisis, now under the impact of the refugee crisis that it has helped to create, the EU states are turning on each other. The world crisis is now however set to worsen. Its first semblance being the current falls in the price of sterling. The International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday that the global economy is now ‘highly vulnerable’.

The IMF report cautioned that all of the economic headwinds point ‘to higher risks of a derailed recovery, at a moment when the global economy is highly vulnerable to adverse shocks’.

The crisis that erupted in 2007-8 and wreaked havoc throughout the planet is set to renew itself on a more intense and revolutionary scale. This crisis will see the EU trying to do to a number of EU states what it did to Greece: put them under a troika dictatorship and ruin them.

There is only one way forward. This is to break with the EU. Vote ‘Out’ on June 23. Then we must bring down the Tories and bring in a workers government and socialism.

The UK workers will then march arm in arm with the workers of Europe to replace the bankrupt EU with the Socialist United States of Europe, that will produce for people’s needs and welcome all refugees.
