UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has voiced his ‘dismay’ over remarks by Iran’s president calling for Israel to be ‘wiped off the map’. Annan reminded Iran that, as a UN signatory, it had undertaken not to threaten the use of force against another state.

Annan’s remarks reek of cynical hypocrisy! Hasn’t the UN secretary general noticed what has been happening in Iraq since March 2003? In making these remarks, Annan is acting as a US puppet.

And what about the preceding 13 years up to 2003, when UN sanctions on Iraq wiped out up to 1.5 million Iraqis through starvation and disease? The imposed sanctions were a real physical attempt, not just a rhetorical statement, to wipe out the modern state of Iraq and return it to the 19th century, and Annan, Bush and Blair were central to it.

The Iranian government has never done anything like this mass murdering of men, women and children to wipe out a society.

The Iranian president’s remarks have also spurred Premier Blair into life to tell the world: ‘If they continue down this path, then people are going to believe that they are a real threat to our world security and stability’, adding: ‘If they carry on like this the question people will be asking is when are you going to do something about it. Because can you imagine a state like that with an attitude like that having a nuclear weapon?’

The bourgeois media reported that it had not heard Blair threaten another state like this since the Iraq war, when he used the same wmd scare.

Britain’s ally, Israel, has called for Iran to be expelled from the UN. This, of course, would create the conditions for Israel to bomb the ‘outcast state’ using a section of its vast nuclear arsenal or some of its other wmds to do so – a real wipe-out operation.

However, as many people have pointed out, there is nothing new in the statement of the Iranian president. Iran has refused to recognise Israel’s right to exist since the 1979 revolution. What has caused the furore is the US-UK’s position, bleeding to death in the sands of Iraq, and desperate to find a way out.

In fact, with the exception of Egypt and Jordan, the Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, have the same basic position regards Israel as Iran. They are still in a state of war with Israel, have no embassies there, and do not recognise it.

The reason for this is simple. Despite the ignorant Blair never having heard of any state declaring that another state should be wiped out, in 1948 when the state of Israel was established, it set out to wipe out the Palestinians and any prospect of a Palestinian state, and drove over a million from their homes, using Nazi terror tactics, into refugee camps.

The massive pogrom was so successful that Israeli Premier Golda Meir was able to publicly state that there was no such thing as a Palestinian people, and for a whole period the Zionists insisted that they were going to expel the Arabs from all the land between the Nile and the Euphrates to establish a Greater Israel.

Today, the Jewish state is the worldwide specialist in how to kill, humiliate and wipe out Arabs and Muslims, with many of the tactics carried out at Abu Ghraib first seeing the light of day in the torture chambers of the Zionist state, before they were codified into manuals by Western specialists in torture and degradation.

Zionism and the Jewish state are an imperialist agency in the Middle East. The region will only live in peace when Zionism and imperialism have been driven out, creating the conditions for a state of Palestine in which Arabs, Jews and Christians can live in peace.

The alternative to this perspective is imperialism and Zionism wiping out millions of Palestinians, Iraqis, Syrians, and Iranians in a never-ending war.
