WITH THE Tories in what is being called an ‘existential crisis’ over breaking with the European Union, the British ruling class and its allies in the USA are becoming alarmed. They fear that a Corbyn-led government could take the place of the Tories, and touch off a massive revolutionary movement by the working class to get rid of British capitalism.
The capitalist press is already now saying quite openly that Corbyn is a sick man and is too sick to rule and that he should be retired from the political scene by Labour’s right wing.
Unite union leader Len McCluskey yesterday tried to steady the Labour ship from the ruling class storm, saying ‘there is no panic’ over Labour’s Brexit policy and the party should trust Corbyn. He told the BBC, Labour should not rush to back another referendum, and should wait for the party’s consultation.
McCluskey dismissed reports about Corbyn’s health as ‘fake news’. However, Jeremy Corbyn has called for an inquiry after newspapers reported two civil servants had said he was ‘too frail’ to lead Labour or become PM.
An article in The Times reported an official saying there was a ‘real worry’ the 70-year-old is not up to the job ‘physically or mentally’, is ‘losing his memory’ and is being ‘propped up by those around him’.
The unnamed official is quoted as saying: ‘There’s growing concern that he’s too frail and is losing his memory. He’s not in charge of his own party.’ The Times said it was briefed by two senior state officials that civil servants were suggesting the Labour leader may have to stand down over supposed health issues.
Corbyn has condemned this ‘farrago of nonsense’ and ‘tittle tattle’. He said: ‘The civil service has to be independent,’ adding: ‘It has to be non-political and has to be non-judgemental of the politicians they have a duty to serve.’
Of course, the capitalist state is the exact opposite, it is the 100% servant of the ruling class. Corbyn continued: ‘I would make that very clear if we were elected to government. There must be an investigation into which senior civil servants are spreading fictitious information to the press and in the process compromising the integrity of the civil service.’
In fact, the civil service is part of the capitalist state that exists solely to protect the ruling class from the working class. It has no integrity! However, the origins of this campaign are not just located at the Israeli embassy. They are products of the Trump regime itself.
A tape has been leaked to the Washington Post which has the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying that the United States ‘won’t wait’ before beginning to ‘push back’ against a Jeremy Corbyn-led Labour government in Britain.
This question was posed to him: ‘If Corbyn is elected, would you be willing to work with us to take on actions if life becomes very difficult for Jews in the UK?’
According to the Washington Post, Pompeo’s response was to say: ‘It could be that Mr. Corbyn manages to run the gauntlet and get elected. It’s possible. You should know, we won’t wait for him to do those things to begin to push back. We will do our level best,’ he said to fervent applause from attendees at the meeting. ‘It’s too risky and too important and too hard once it’s already happened,’ he said.
In fact, the propaganda that Corbyn is a sick man is the preparation for a CIA-backed right wing coup in the Labour Party. The CIA and Pompeo have already marked down Corbyn as the UK’s Allende and are no doubt preparing the same bloody fate for him. The onslaught that has begun on Corbyn must be the signal for the millions of UK trade unionists to force their unions to take mass action.
There must be a general strike to bring down the current Tory regime and to immediately break with the EU and also with the Trump regime in the USA.
Millions of workers must take action to bring in a workers government that will not just break with the EU but will smash the capitalist state and nationalise the banks and the major industries, to bring in a planned economy in the UK and begin a socialist revolution.
This revolution will spread throughout the EU and replace it with the Socialist United States of Europe, while rocking US imperialism down to its foundations.
