IN HIS Birmingham rally on Saturday Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, got an ecstatic welcome from masses of people for his denunciation of the Tory attempts to incite a new English civil war by turning youth against the elderly and vice versa.
He said: ‘They are now pitching young against old… But young people are being offered no hope by the Tories either – loaded up with tuition fee debts, with next to no chance of a home of their own or a stable, secure job. Labour stands for unity across all ages and regions in our country… We all depend on each other.’
He then followed this denunciation by making two appeals to the Tories to do the decent thing and drop the anti-pensioner manifesto pledge, saying in the second: ‘So Theresa, please end the anxiety for millions of older people and do a U-turn now. You will end up facing the right way.’
His audience was rather taken aback by Corbyn’s pacifist appeal – they understood that just like the leopard the Tories can never change their spots and are anti-working class to the core. In fact in a reverse situation the Tories would be going for Labour in the same way that a pack of hounds goes in for the kill when it has cornered a fox.
Corbyn believes in allowing the class enemy to live to fight another day – unlike Marx, Lenin, or Trotsky who believed that when the opportunity came to deal a major blow to the enemy, one should damage them to the maximum!
In fact the Tories have been shaken by the working class reaction to their manifesto pledges to pauperise and means test pensioners. This has emerged on the facebook page of PM May, the woman who wants a massive majority so that she can have a personal dictatorship to make Britain a paradise for the bosses.
In a post on her Facebook page, May – who the Tory Party has been peddling as unbeatable – reveals her feet of clay. She writes: ‘If I lose just six seats I will lose this election, and Jeremy Corbyn will be sitting down to negotiate with the presidents, prime ministers and chancellors of Europe.
‘For anyone with any doubts about the importance of this election, the events of the past week should have put them to rest. With the publication of the Labour Party’s manifesto on Tuesday, and the launch of my own plan on Thursday, it is clearer than ever just how much is at stake.
‘Labour’s plan – with its fantastical promises and utopian vision – would drag this country back to the past. It would undo all the progress we have made, return us to the days when the trade unions held sway, and put our economic security at risk.’
She then frightens herself with: ‘The prospect of him walking through the door of Number 10, flanked by John McDonnell and Diane Abbott and propped up by the Liberal Democrats and nationalist parties, should scare us all.
‘And make no mistake, it could happen. The cold hard fact is that if I lose just six seats I will lose this election, and Jeremy Corbyn will be sitting down to negotiate with the presidents, prime ministers and chancellors of Europe.’
The fact is that the working class despite the Fabian softness of the Labour leadership has moved forward to reject the massive attacks that the Tories are making on the working class, the pensioners and the trade unions in the Tory Manifesto.
Workers must now get after the Labour leaders to chase the Tories out of office and call a halt to pleading with May to act for the good of all. May is now desperate. She called the snap election to try to get a massive majority, to have a personal dictatorship. If that massive majority does not materialise, even if she has a majority of just a few seats, she will be put out by the Tories and we will have another crisis election.
In this situation the working class needs a new and revolutionary leadership! It is not Corbyn that has given May an attack of the acute jitters, it is the fact that the working class has rejected her manifesto and and is becoming more and more determined to put her out.
The WRP is standing five candidates in this election to rapidly build up the revolutionary leadership. We support a Labour victory on June 8th but we also know that the working class must be ready to take the power in the period ahead. We urge you to vote WRP where our party is standing, and get ready to go forward to workers’ power and socialism.
