THE General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces has vowed not to back down until securing the country’s legitimate rights and delivering a complete defeat to the aggressors – the United States and the Israeli regime – in the region.
It made the remarks in a statement on Sunday, marking the anniversary of the return of Iranian prisoners of war (POWs) following the war with Iraq in the 1980s.
‘Appreciating the iron will, as well as the firm and steadfast determination of the resilient and patient people of Iran, the General Staff of the Armed Forces assures them that it will not back down … until completely defeating the American-Zionist adversaries in the region, upholding the rights of the heroic Iranian nation, and forcing the enemy to surrender.’
The United States and Israel launched their illegal war of aggression against Iran on February 28th by assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders.
Also in its statement, the General Staff of the Armed Forces said that war veterans’ legacy of steadfastness and resistance has been passed into the hands of noble and freedom-loving young Iranians who have stood against the world’s most heavily equipped military and brought its bankrupt leaders to their knees.’
Also on Sunday, the Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture Samad Hassanzadeh, said the country’s economy has moved past the sharp downturn caused by the recent war, with economic activity resuming.
Hassanzadeh said the latest Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) reports contain encouraging signs of a relative improvement in economic conditions.
He attributed the recovery to the ‘jihadist efforts’ of the private sector and businesses, as well as a temporary reduction in the intensity of economic shocks compared with the months of March, April, and May.
Hassanzadeh said the improvement also reflected the government and president’s efforts to maintain economic activity and engage with different countries.
He stressed, however, that sustaining the recovery would require greater international engagement.
The chamber chief thanked the Iranian people, entrepreneurs, security forces, and the country’s negotiating team for their efforts.
The private sector, he added, would support negotiations and initiatives that safeguard the Islamic Republic of Iran’s power and dignity.
