NAIM Qassim, deputy secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, has underlined the continued resistance against the US and Israel will never surrender.
‘The only way to liberate a territory is resistance, and today this issue is not only limited to Palestine but includes Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the entire region, and the US move to impose a different condition is the root cause of all clashes,’ Qassim was quoted by the Elam al-Harbi news website yesterday.
He underscored the need for resistance against enemies more than ever, and said: ‘We are in a defensive position and we cannot accept surrender to Israel and the US and their plans under any conditions.’
His remarks came after the secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement said Israeli authorities had described his group as ‘a strategic threat’ to the Tel Aviv regime in an attempt to mobilise support and provoke the international community against it.
Addressing his supporters via a televised speech broadcast live from the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Saturday evening, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah stated that the US and Israel are conspiring against Hezbollah in a bid to weaken popular support for the movement.
He stressed that Hezbollah had stood firm in the face of US and Israeli hegemonic schemes for the Middle East region.
‘The United States would have offered southern Lebanon to Israel if Hezbollah did not exist.
‘Lebanon is not in a position of weakness. We are standing up for our rights concerning the Sheba’a Farms, Kfarchouba village as well as the northern section of Ghajar,’ Nasrallah said.
‘Lebanon can stop the Zionist regime of Israel from plundering its oil and gas reserves,’ the Hezbollah secretary-general added.
He further highlighted that his movement fully supports the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian right of return to their homes.
