40% cuts will drive workers to rise up to get rid of capitalism!

THE new diktat of the Tories and the Liberals, that there will be cuts in government departmental spending of 40 per cent, means that capitalism’s time is well and truly up, and that the working class will have no alternative but to seek to bury it and replace it with socialism, through a socialist revolution!

The alternative to this is that humanity pays the huge and bloody price the Tories are demanding for maintaining their bankrupt system.

This price will take the form of massive cuts, with living standards slashed into the bone. It means mass homelessness after millions more lose their jobs and then their homes, with millions of youth having no jobs, education or future.

The price will be the ending of the NHS with healthcare becoming a question of whether you can pay.

The consequences will be an international trade war, and then, as in 1914-18 and 1939-45 the crowning glory of the capitalist crisis, another great imperialist war to re-divide the world between the gangsters of capitalism and imperialism.

The bourgeois ‘theory’ is that after this massive destruction of the productive forces, including the loss of hundreds of millions of lives, capitalism will perhaps be able to stabilise itself on the mountains of corpses, and stagger forward for another period before it enters into an an even more intense and devastating stage of its death agony.

That this spectre is no future for anybody, and is in fact the protracted death agony of a historically out of date and completely outmoded capitalist social system, is becoming more and more obvious.

Also obvious is that if this system is allowed to continue, and is not buried by a socialist revolution and replaced with socialism, it will drag the entire human race into its grave along with it.

From this basic and sharpening contradiction between life and death – the latter being a capitalist system hurtling to destruction, and the former, the billions of working people who can develop all of the productive forces, once they are freed from the contradictions of capitalism, to take humanity forward to a new, higher stage of its development to a socialist society – comes the iron necessity and then the historic determination to carry through the socialist revolution.

What is required to carry out this historic task is the development of the revolutionary leadership of the working class. This is the International Committee of the Fourth International including its British section the WRP.

This will mobilise the only really revolutionary class in society, the working class, with special emphasis on the revolutionary organising of its youth, to carry through the world socialist revolution, smashing capitalism and imperialism on a world scale.

The fact is that the greatest revolutionary struggles ever under capitalism have already begun in Greece and are spreading worldwide.

The working class is however led by reformist trade union leaders and careerist Labour politicians who are all at home under capitalism, who all prosper under it, support it, and whose function is holding back the working class to prevent it from using its full strength to smash capitalism – until the capitalist state is ready to deal with it.

We must now work all-out to build up the revolutionary leadership that the working class and the youth require. We must keep our appointment with history. In Britain we must demand that the trade unions mobilise to bring down the coalition to bring in a workers government.

The first step is is to force the TUC to withdraw its invitation to Cameron to attend the TUC Congress. Then the Labour Party must expel collaborators, such as Field and Hutton, who serve the Tories.

There must be a recall TUC Congress to organise a general strike to bring down the coalition.

We must organise a national campaign of public meetings and demonstrations to build a mass young Socialist movement, a new leadership in the trade unions and to build the WRP. There is not a moment to lose.
