EVEN the Human Rights Watch group – veterans of the struggle to remove and liquidate the Gadaffi regime in Libya, and now immersed in the follow-up taking place in Syria – have had to separate themselves from the spectacle of a ‘rebel’ leader cutting out a Syrian soldier’s heart with a view to eating it.
The Obama and Cameron sponsored ‘rebels’ are battling to reduce Syria to the same level of medieval chaos that they have imposed on Libya.
Human Rights Watch stated yesterday that the man depicted in the heart eating video appeared to be from a ‘rebel brigade’ in central Homs province which fired indiscriminately at Lebanese villages earlier this year.
It even lectured the opposition, that has already been caught using poison gas in the service of ‘western democracy’, saying: ‘It is not enough for Syria’s opposition to condemn such behaviour or blame it on violence by the government.’
In the video a man identified as Abu Sakkar, a commander of the Omar al-Farouq al-Mustakila brigade, is shown standing over the body of a uniformed soldier.
‘We swear to God we will eat your hearts and livers, you soldiers of Bashar the dog,’ he says as he cuts out the soldier’s heart.
‘We are the heroes of Baba Amr,’ he says, referring to the central city of Homs. The man then stands up, raises his dagger in one hand, and the heart in the other and raises it to his mouth.
These must be the same ‘militants’ that we were told in Libya were a bit rough around the edges but would learn democracy quickly and build a democratic society, overcomng a few teething problems.
In fact, Cameron and Obama have unleashed a medieval plague on the Syrian people, to level the Syrian state and its Baathist regime and replace it with a sectarian regime willing to work with Israel and imperialism, as are their Qatari masters.
Meanwhile back in Libya, which was a modern state whose oil wealth was used to provide the highest living standards in Africa, the medievalists have had power in their hands for some time, thanks to NATO – that is to Cameron and Obama.
Yesterday a car bomb exploded near a hospital in Benghazi. The devastating bomb destroyed a restaurant and damaged cars and buildings near Al-Jala hospital in the centre of Benghazi.
Deputy Interior Minister Abdullah Massoud said 15 people were killed and another 30 wounded in the attack in the eastern city. Benghazi, Libya’s second city, has seen a wave of violence in recent weeks. Four police stations have been bombed in recent days – two on Friday and two on Sunday. In September, the US consulate in Benghazi was attacked and US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed by their ‘democratic allies’ who, we are told, are learning more about democracy every day. Just imagine what the US response would have been if the killings had taken place in Iran!
Meanwhile, British aid workers have been raped and others killed by the same forces, who recently crossed the border into Algeria. The French embassy has also been bombed in Tripoli, and the greater part of north Africa is now off limits to all EU and US citizens.
However, the oil is still flowing, since the Islamists and the oil companies are managing to live side by side with each other, with oil pipelines intact. This is the basic fact that makes the Libyan intervention a success as far as the imperialists are concerned. Nothing else matters except oil flow!
In fact, the imperialists have made it crystal clear in Iraq, Libya and now Syria that any atrocity is a price worth paying provided they are able to murder the Arab nationalist leaders, and bring in their Islamists.
This is the policy that they are working with today in Syria. The tears about refugees and the corpses are of the crocodile variety.
However, the Syrian masses and their army have stood fast and are now getting the upper hand. It is in this situation that Obama and Cameron are seeking the help of Putin to remove Assad.
The Arab workers and poor will not allow this to happen. They intend to drive imperialism out of the Middle East and will not tolerate any Stalinist attempt to help imperialism out – as Putin did with his go-ahead for a no-fly zone over Libya – in fact, they are determined to put an end to imperialism once and for all.
