Enfield North WRP election candidate Anna Athow and her campaign team received a big response on the High Street yesterday.

Anna, a consultant surgeon, has for the last three years campaigned around the clock to keep Chase Farm Hospital open and her stand is appreciated by local people.

Student Marcus Burke told Anna: ‘All the cuts in college are just not acceptable.

‘For people who have a dream of going to university for something they want to accomplish, and they can’t for financial reasons – that’s not good enough.

‘They should scrap the fees.

‘They are decreasing the intake of students because of a lack of funding.

‘A third of lecturers at my college, London Met, were let go at the beginning of this year.

‘There has to be action, there needs to be change to rectify these problems.

‘The plans to close Chase Farm Hospital are terrible.

‘We can’t let that happen.

‘I’m definitely for a workers government, for equal rights.’

Florist Linda Humphreys said: ‘I agree with Anna Athow. I don’t agree with everything that the government and the banks have done.

‘I’m concerned about the closure of hospitals.

‘I don’t see why we should bail out the banks.’

Pensioner Lilian Durrant added: ‘We’ve been sold down the river by Labour.

‘They do nothing about the legal system. It needs looking into because the public get a very raw deal.

‘I’m opposed to the NHS cuts, especially the closure of A&Es.’
