WITH THE Tory government split, divided, and on the rocks after refusing to carry out the 2016 referendum instruction to ‘Leave the EU’, the UK ruling class is desperately seeking to avoid a general election, or prepare the grounds for a witchhunting general election, that they hope it will win.
Britain’s ruling capitalist class have openly expressed their fears that the UK is heading for a Corbyn-led Labour government, that will be driven forward by the massive anger of workers and the middle class at years of Tory austerity to carry out socialist policies, including completely leaving the EU and the nationalisation of major industries and the banks.
On cue, the Zionist movement, that celebrated alongside the Tory government throughout 2017 one hundred years of the Balfour Declaration, in which the UK pledged that there would be a Jewish state in Palestine, has come forward with a massive drive to label Labour Party leader Corbyn an anti-Semite.
They are trying to damage the Labour vote, influence the elections to the Labour Party National Executive Committee that have just begun, to drive out Corbyn supporters and create the conditions for a mass hysteria that will allow the Labour right wing to oppose a Corbyn-led Labour government, and either drive him out of the leadership, or split the party, to form some kind of national government with the Tories, to try and save bankrupt British capitalism.
At a time when the ruling class desperately needs help, the UK’s three main Jewish newspapers, The Jewish Chronicle, Jewish News and Jewish Telegraph, have leapt into the breach to publish the same front-page warning that a Jeremy Corbyn-led government would pose an ‘existential threat to Jewish life’, ie would be a fascist government!
Under the same headline, ‘United we stand’, the newspapers said Labour had ‘diluted’ the IHRA definition in its new code and there was a ‘stubborn refusal’ from the party to accept it. They said the party had the choice of accepting the definition or ‘be seen by all decent people as a racist, anti-Semitic party’.
They added that ‘The stain and shame of anti-Semitism has coursed through Her Majesty’s Opposition since Jeremy Corbyn became leader in 2015,’ and that the party must sign up to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism.
Labour’s code of conduct does reproduce the IHRA’s ‘working definition’ of anti-Semitism and lists behaviours likely to be regarded as anti-Semitic – but leaves out four examples provided by the IHRA definition:
These are ‘Accusing Jewish people of being more loyal to Israel than their home country’, ‘Claiming that Israel’s existence as a state is a racist endeavour’, ‘Requiring higher standards of behaviour from Israel than other nations’, ‘Comparing contemporary Israeli policies to those of the Nazis.’
In fact, many Jews oppose the existence of the state of Israel, and welcome a Palestinian state, which they would be proud to be part of – they are obviously not anti-Semites. Many Jewish people condemn the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and the murderous action of its troops that have killed hundreds of Palestinians and wounded thousands on the Gaza border and in the West Bank, and that does not make these Jewish people anti-Semites.
Many Jews oppose the recent legal declaration that officially defines Israel as the national homeland of the Jewish people and asserts that ‘the realisation of the right to national self-determination in Israel is unique to the Jewish people.’
This law also includes clauses stating that a ‘united Jerusalem’ is the capital of Israel and that Hebrew is the country’s official language. Another says that ‘the state sees the development of Jewish settlement as a national value and will act to encourage and promote its establishment and consolidation.’
News Line calls for the unity of all Semitic peoples, both Arabs and Jews, to build a common state in Palestine, replacing Israel, in which all can live in peace and security.
We also hail the historic contribution that the Jewish people through such thinkers as Spinoza, Marx, Leon Trotsky and Einstein have made to the development of humanity, and condemn the three Jewish newspapers for their desperate attempt to prop up Tory and right-wing Labour reaction!
