THE White House has announced that US President Donald Trump is considering using the US military to grab Greenland as a ‘national security priority of the United States!’.
A White House official confirmed last night that President Trump has made it well known that acquiring Greenland is a national security priority of the United States and that ‘it is vital to deter our adversaries in the Arctic region’.
The official continued that: ‘The president and his team are discussing a range of options to pursue this important foreign policy goal and, of course utilising the US military is always an option at the commander in chief’s disposal.’
Yesterday, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer joined European leaders in insisting that only Greenland and Denmark could decide on the Arctic Island’s future.
He said in a joint statement in Paris by the leaders of Britain, France, Germany Italy, Poland, Spain and Denmark: ‘Greenland belongs to its people. It is for Denmark and Greenland and them only to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland.’
Trump, meanwhile, insisted that he was ‘very serious about going ahead with the annexation of Greenland, declaring: ‘We need Greenland for national security and that includes Europe.’
However, Mette Frederiksen, the Danish Prime Minister warned that if the US did seize Greenland, it would end the NATO alliance that underpinned Western capitalist security since 1949.
The Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk took the same line warning that if the US did take over Greenland the NATO alliance underpinning western security since 1949 would be broken.
Tusk emphasised that: ‘No member should attack or threaten another member of the North Atlantic Alliance, otherwise NATO would lose its meaning if conflict or mutual conflicts occurred within the alliance’.
Capitalism is in its gravest crisis ever.
There is no doubt that the worldwide trade unions must now take action and call emergency congresses to unite the working people of the world and lead them in the struggle to put an end to capitalism and its crisis, by overthrowing the ruling classes and replacing the bankrupt capitalist system with socialism, under which the huge advances in economy and science will be used to benefit ordinary people, not to bankrupt them as is now being done every day.
The TUC trade unions must smash the capitalist conspiracy that seeks to use the desperate crisis of the British capitalist system to promote the slashing of workers living standards.
There must be a Special Congress of the TUC called immediately to mobilise the entire working class to smash bankrupt capitalism with a socialist revolution, that will establish a socialist planned economy whose maxim will be ‘from each according to their ability to each according to their need.’
Such a Congress must call a general strike to bring down the bankrupt Labour Government and replace it with a Workers Government that will nationalise the banks and the major industries.
The UK needs a nationalised and planned socialist economy that will function to satisfy the basic needs of the working class.
The time has come for action by the working class to put an end to constant wars and mass exploitation and instead go forward to socialism.
Capitalism is now heading for a massive disaster on a world scale where millions of workers will see the economy smashed and their living standards crushed, by a ruling class in its greatest crisis ever.
Now is the time for workers to rise up, bring an end to bankrupt capitalism, and go forward to a socialist system where peace and prosperity will dominate.
This is the only way forward!
