STRIKING British Airways cabin crew are calling for the rest of the British Airways workforce to be brought out on strike alongside them.
They are fighting to defend the terms and conditions of all British Airways workers and today is the third day of their latest five-day strike.
Speaking to News Line over the weekend, and using pseudonyms to avoid victimisation, cabin crew called for the action to be spread.
‘Greg’ said: ‘We’re standing here striking, picketing and waving the flag for the whole of the BA workforce.
‘The rest of the BA workforce must be called upon to stand up alongside us against the bullying regime and climate of fear that is Willie Walsh.’
‘Mollie’ said: ‘We must win this fight, otherwise every union in the country is in trouble.
‘Every time we ballot for a strike, Willie Walsh goes to the Law Courts.
‘We stood strong and went to court and beat him.
‘We are determined to defend the right to strike. Every worker needs the right to strike!’
She added: ‘We know that the British public really does not want to see what was once the world’s favourite airline, and can be again, go the same way as the Irish national carrier because of the same man.’
‘Betty’ said: ‘All trade unionists are watching this strike and they want us to win.
‘So we want the support of all the unions.’
‘Peter’ said: ‘I’m ex-ground staff and I know that whatever happens to us, will happen to the ground staff too, but probably with even more devastating consequences.
‘I’ve worked for the airline since 1989.
‘They’ve tried to bully us into changing our contracts before.
‘I’m 22 years in the airline and my basic is £17,500. That’s not high.’
He continued: ‘We are a test case for this country, not just the airline industry.
‘Every large corporation is looking at us and that is why we are determined to win.
‘We want the rest of BA called out and we want it now. It’s the key to the situation.
‘I still have lots of friends in the ground staff and I know they are very aware that what Walsh is doing to us now, he’ll do to them next. To beat him, come and join us!’
