‘The strikes are strongly supported, our members are determined to continue the strike action until Royal Mail seriously negotiates,’ a Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) national spokeswoman told News Line yesterday.
Merseyside Amalgamated CWU Branch Secretary Ray Lucas added: ‘There is a move afoot to join forces in a public sector alliance. I would support such a move. We are all involved.
‘It seems there is a policy generated from the government to keep inflation down, at the expense of workers wages, terms and conditions.
‘There is great feeling amongst members that we have to win. Our wages, terms and conditions and our pensions are at stake.’
David Wilshire Bristol Region Branch Secretary with 1,500 members, said: ‘Things are going very well, very solid. Members believe in what they are fighting for.
‘We’ve had no decrease in attendences throughout the action, in fact an increase. They are fighting for their terms and conditions.’
