RAMALLAH, October 6 2015 – Dozens of Palestinians were injured with live ammunition on Monday night and Tuesday and suffocated by inhaling tear gas during recurrent clashes in multiple areas near Ramallah, according to medical sources.
At midday on Tuesday, two Palestinians, including a journalist, were injured with live ammunition during the confrontations at Qalandiya checkpoint. The journalist, Salah Zeyada who works with Pal Media group, was shot in his abdomen, while the former, whose identity remains unknown, was shot in the head.
Earlier on Monday night, eight Palestinians were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets during clashes at Beit El checkpoint, just northeast of Ramallah. Others were also injured during Monday in clashes at Qalandiya checkpoint, to the south of Ramallah. Clashes also broke out between the Israeli army and Palestinian youths at Atara checkpoint, north of Ramallah, where the army used teargas and stun grenades to disperse the protesters.
Two Palestinian youths, whose identities were not verified, were hit by shrapnel during the clashes at Atara checkpoint. One of the youth received shrapnel in his thigh, while the other was struck in his chest and thigh. The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) said 37 Palestinians were injured in the ongoing clashes at Beit El and Qalandia checkpoints, including seven cases with live ammunition.
PRC added that one of its ambulances came under gunfire from the Israeli army, smashing its windshield. However, no injuries were reported. The clashes came amid a seemingly growing tension across the West Bank districts and Jerusalem with Israel’s repeated assaults on the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, particularly its growing attempts to temporally divide the site between Muslims and Jews.
The situation has also been significantly deteriorating since the deadly arson attack on the Dawabsheh’s family home on July 31, which was carried out by Jewish settlers. In the past two weeks alone, about seven Palestinian youths were killed by the Israeli army during an ongoing unrest across the West Bank and Jerusalem. Similar clashes broke out late on Monday and Tuesday across the West Bank districts, including in Bethlehem, Hebron, and Jerusalem.
• HEBRON, October 6, 2015 – At least ten Palestinians were shot and injured and dozens others suffocated during clashes that erupted overnight with Israeli forces across the Hebron area. Several others suffocated during renewed clashes on Tuesday, said security sources. Clashes erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinians at the entrance of Bani Na’im town, east of the city.
Israeli forces fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters at Palestinian locals and their homes, causing a number of locals to suffocate. Furthermore, 10 Palestinians were shot and injured with rubber-coated steel bullets during clashes with Israeli forces at Bab al-Zawiya in central Hebron. Among the injuries were four Palestinians who were hit with rubber-coated steel bullets in the head and four others who were hit in the leg.
Also among the injuries was a reporter and a woman. All the injuries were evacuated to a Hebron hospital for treatment. During the clashes, two Palestinian young men were reportedly detained after being shot and injured. Palestinian medics could not verify the two young men’s injuries as they could not reach them. Meanwhile, clashes renewed on Tuesday afternoon between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians at Bab al-Zawiya; forces fired tear gas canisters at locals, causing many suffocation cases among them.
Furthermore, several other Palestinians suffocated and were injured with rubber bullets during clashes in al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of the city. This came as Israeli forces sealed all entrances leading to the city and set up checkpoints at the entrances of several Hebron villages and towns. Forces also reportedly raided and wreaked havoc into a house belonging to Jamal Abdul-Salam during a raid into the Hebron town of Beit Ula. Similar clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the vicinity of Abu al-Reish checkpoint and Tareq junction, causing several to suffer from tear gas inhalation.
• JERUSALEM, October 6, 2015 – Israeli forces on Tuesday detained 17 Palestinians from across the West Bank, including minors, according to local and security sources. Israeli police attacked the funeral procession of Fadi Allon, who was shot and killed by Israeli forces in cold blood outside the Old City in Jerusalem, held in the town of Beit Hanina to the north of Jerusalem.
Forces fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades toward locals who participated in the funeral. However, no injuries were reported. A Palestinian youth, whose identity was not verified, was detained during the attack. In Hebron, forces detained three brothers from the town of Beit Owwa to the west, while they were driving near the town of Dura to the south; where clashes purportedly erupted between Palestinian locals and Israeli soldiers. They were identified as Qusay, Oday, and Abdallah Masalmeh.
Forces further detained two other locals, including a blind and deaf minor, from the Hebron area.
Forces detained Hassan al-Rajbi, a 14-year-old disabled child, after raiding, searching, and wreaking havoc into his family’s home in the old city of Hebron. Forces further detained ex-detainee Mohannad al-Awadi, 26, after raiding his family’s house. The ex-detainee was taken to a military camp inside the Israeli settlement of Karmi Tsur, built illegally on Palestinian-owned land.
Forces also set up military checkpoints at the northern entrance of the city of Hebron, as well as at the entrance of Sair town, where they proceeded to search and inspect the identity cards of passing Palestinian registered cars. Meanwhile, forces detained three Palestinians, including a minor, during clashes that erupted in al-Aroub Refugee Camp. They were identified as Nasim al-Titi, 13, Anan Kawamleh, 16, and Yousif al-Titi, 20.
In Bethlehem, forces detained three Palestinian teenagers from the town of Taqou to the east, after raiding and searching their families’ homes. They were identified as Ali Sabah, 17, Marwan Abdel-Khalil, and Sabir al-Badan, 15. Meanwhile in Jenin, forces detained two Palestinian teenagers during clashes that broke out in the village of Barta’a, where soldiers targeted the Palestinian locals with stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets.
The detainees were identified as Tareq, and Ja’afar Qabaha, both aged 16. Meanwhile, forces detained at least four Palestinians during an Israeli army raid and search campaign in the city of Nablus. They were identified as Ammar Breek, Iyad Abi Zahra, and Na’el Bishtawi. Forces further raided several other homes in the town of Huwwara to the south of Nablus, in search of a wanted Palestinian.
Forces raided the home of Ahmad Dmaidi to detain him, however, Ahmad escaped before being captured, while his father was detained as hostage until his son turns himself in, according to Fatah spokesperson in Huwwara, Awad Njm.
