Nuclear Terrorists Attend Seoul Summit

A WORLD leaders summit in Seoul on nuclear security has called for closer co-operation to tackle the threat of nuclear terrorism.

President Obama warned there were still ‘too many bad actors’ who were threatening to stockpile and use ‘dangerous’ nuclear material.

‘It would not take much, just a handful or so of these materials, to kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people and that’s not an exaggeration, that’s the reality that we face,’ he said.

In fact, the United States is the only country that has used nuclear weapons in war, with its nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Britain possesses nuclear weapons, and the means of delivery by submarine and plane, but up till now has limited itself to testing them, using its troops and naval forces as guinea pigs.

The summit meeting on Monday was dominated by North Korea’s planned launch of a satellite, for peaceful purposes, scheduled to take place between April 12 and 16.

The Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, speaking at the summit, called on Pyongyang to cancel the rocket launch, saying that it would violate UN resolutions.

South Korea and the US say North Korea risks further sanctions and isolation if it does not cancel its plans. Seoul has also warned it will shoot down the rocket if it strays over South Korean territory.

North Korea has every right to test its rockets for any purpose that it requires, and there is every reason for believing that if it did not possess a nuclear weapon and the means of delivery it would have already suffered the fate of Iraq and would be under the US-UK iron heel, with China next on the list.

In fact, the US-UK are not opposed to nuclear proliferation as such, they are opposed to those states on its enemies list having access to nuclear power.

Israel has up to 200 nuclear weapons plus the means of delivery, and the US and the UK both oppose the Middle East becoming a nuclear bomb-free zone, in order to preserve Israel’s deadly nuclear capacity.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons, and was allowed to acquire them, some say through stealing US nuclear secrets, when it was a very close ally of the US.

India has also been allowed to acquire them, and is now the US’s chosen Asian rival to China.

However, Iran developing its nuclear industry has been taken as a threat to the very existence of the human race, despite Iranian assurances that it has not the slightest intention of developing a nuclear weapon since its oil weapon has much greater power.

Iran’s assurances are being treated in the same way as Saddam Hussein’s assurances that Iraq did not have wmds, and it is now commonly assumed that a US-supported Israeli strike against Iran is, at the most, months away.

As far as the News Line is concerned, we accept Iran’s assurances that it is not developing nuclear weapons, however, we insist that Iran has every right to develop such weapons. It has the same right to these weapons as do other anti-imperialist states such as Russia, China and North Korea.

A joint communique released at the summit reaffirmed the commitment to nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

However, a reference in the draft communique on the need for ‘concrete steps’ towards a world without nuclear weapons was omitted.

Quite so. The truth remains that imperialism and its allies such as Israel will have to be disarmed of their nuclear weaponry by the victory of the world socialist revolution. Until that time Russia, China and North Korea should keep their nuclear weaponry at the ready.
