THROUGHOUT Yatta town, south of Jerusalem, a general strike is being observed to mourn the killing of a 15-year-old boy, Hasan Manasra, who was shot for allegedly attempting to stab two settlers near Pisgat Zeev settlement in Jerusalem. Hasan was left to bleed to death.

A video on social media featured Israeli settlers surrounding Hasan, shouting and using foul language against him in a mix of Arabic and Hebrew, with one asking a police officer to ‘Do him a favour and shoot him in the head’.

Police officers did not shoot him, but left him bleeding on the ground with head wounds, broken legs and other serious injuries. The boy was able to raise his head a few times, but the police officers kicked him back down until he bled to death.

Businesses, schools and institutions remained closed across the town after various Palestinian factions called a general strike. Another Palestinian was shot and injured with live ammunition, and others sustained rubber bullet-related injuries, while dozens more were tear-gassed on Tuesday during renewed clashes with Israeli forces across Hebron district after a general strike was called throughout Palestine.

WAFA correspondents reported that a young Palestinian man was injured after being hit with a live bullet in his foot as Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians during clashes at Beit ‘Anun junction, northeast of the city. The injured man, who remains unidentified, received first aid treatment at the scene and was rushed to a Hebron hospital for further treatment.

Clashes also erupted between Palestinians and Israeli forces at the entrances of Idhna town and al-Fawwar refugee camp, southwest and south of the city. And Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters, injuring several Palestinians and causing dozens of others to suffocate from excessive gas inhalation. They were all treated by Palestinian medics at the scene.

This came several hours after Israeli undercover forces, dressed as Palestinian protesters, detained overnight more than 10 Palestinians during the clashes at the main entrance of Idhna town and at the entrance of al-Fawwar refugee camp.

• Palestinian detainees who were recently held after they were wounded by the Israeli authorities are being maltreated, abused, and physically assaulted by Israeli officers, according to the Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs (CPA).

Tareq Barghouth, an attorney with the CPA, said Palestinian detainee Ahmad Manasrah, 13 years old, was detained by Israeli police on Monday. Prior to his arrest, Manasrah was chased and run over by an Israeli police vehicle.
