NO DEPORTATIONS! Defend the Palestinians’ right to their land

ISRAEL has decided to expel more Palestinians from their own homes and lands without taking into consideration any objection from any side, especially the Arab governments!

In fact, the weak Arab stance in the Libyan Summit that took place last month has encouraged Israel to take such a decision.

Hamas lawmaker Huda Naim said that the Israeli military decision to expel thousands of Palestinians from the occupied West Bank was an expected step especially after the weak Arab positions demonstrated in Libya.

In a press release, Naim added that the Israeli occupation realised after this summit the vulnerability of the Arab regimes and their failure to create a clear vision to support the Palestinian cause.

She also noted that the frail popular rallying of Arab and Muslim nations around the Palestinian cause and its accelerated developments gave the Israeli occupation a feeling of strength and support for its schemes against the Palestinian people.

She added that according to this decision Israel will expel, as of next Tuesday, tens of thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank and will deal with them, especially the Palestinians born in Gaza, only in accordance with military regulations.

In the same context, Hamas leader Salah Al-Bardawil condemned the Israeli military order threatening to deport Palestinians living in the occupied West Bank which came into effect on Tuesday, and said the Palestinian Authority bore responsibility for the latest mandate.

In a statement, Al-Bardawil said ‘no one has the right to make decisions on where Palestinians should live, for it is their legislative right to live in any part of Palestine’.

The Hamas leader described the Israeli military orders as ‘criminal and humiliating,’ adding that it reflects Israel’s policy to continually deport Palestinians from their land, ‘reminding us of the 1948 tragedy. What is required of Palestinians is to strongly reject these orders’.

Al-Bardawil called on the international community and human rights groups to oppose the military decrees, and pressure Israel to halt ‘this crime against the Palestinians’.

For his part, MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, stated that the mass displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank is the beginning of a Zionist plan to exile the Palestinian people once again.

Khudari stressed in a press release the need for hastening to restore Palestinian unity and provide an Arab and international support to confront the Israeli plans intended for displacing the Palestinian people.

Israeli human rights group the Hamoked Centre for the Defence of the Individual revealed last Sunday that two signed military orders awaiting implementation give military officials broad and almost total control over the deportation of Palestinians whose residency status in the West Bank is called into question.

Specifically, Hamoked said that the order will be used to deport residents of Gaza from the occupied West Bank, and will likely also target foreign passport holders and non-Palestinian spouses of West Bank residents.

The Centre said tens of thousands of Palestinians and West Bank residents could be caught in the net of the orders, which Israeli journalist Amira Hass said, in a Sunday report, were ‘expected to clamp down on protests in the West Bank’.

The new orders, by substantively changing the definition of an ‘infiltrator,’ Hamoked said in a statement ‘effectively apply the term to anyone who is present in the West Bank without an Israeli permit’.
