A NUMBER of Palestinians were shot and injured by Israeli forces, including a critical injury, during clashes in the Ramallah-district village of Deir Nitham village and Bethlehem-district camp of Duheisha on Friday.

Israeli forces suppressed the funeral procession of 16-year-old Palestinian teen Musaab al-Tamimi in Deir Nitham and raided Duheisha camp, shooting and injuring 20 Palestinians. Thousands of Palestinians attended the funeral procession of al-Tamimi in Deir Nitham village.

A Palestinian youth was critically injured after being shot by Israeli forces during clashes that erupted following al-Tamimi’s funeral procession. Israeli troops conducted raids that triggered clashes in East Jerusalem neighbourhoods of Silwan and al-Issawiya, firing tear gas canisters at local Palestinians.

Hamas may attend the upcoming meeting of the Palestine Liberation Organisation’s (PLO) Central Council scheduled to take place on January 14 in Ramallah. The Secretary-General of the PLO Executive Committee Saeb Erekat has stated that the US administration has moved into a new phase of seeking to impose solutions on the Palestinians.

Erekat said that this tactic will be defeated by the Palestinian people, who will be supported by hundreds of millions of people throughout the world. ‘Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine!’
