US human rights organisations have called on members of Congress to intervene urgently and exert pressure to halt US support for Israel, following footage showing a Palestinian woman burning inside her home in Gaza City while her young daughter was trapped amid the flames.

The calls came after a video circulated widely across the United States documenting the aftermath of an Israeli attack on a residential apartment in Gaza City. The attack killed at least one Palestinian woman, as residents attempted to rescue people trapped inside the home.

The organisations said the footage reflects the scale of the humanitarian suffering endured by Palestinian civilians and raises questions about the continued US support for Israel amid the killing of women and children.

They urged members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate to condemn the attack, call for an end to US support for Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, and hold those responsible for violations against civilians accountable.

In the latest figures, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission recorded 19 colonist attacks targeting olive harvesters, farmers and their property on October 9th.

The attacks included setting a vehicle on fire, uprooting more than 50 olive trees in Qusra, south of Nablus, attacking olive harvesters in several West Bank villages, and opening fire and injuring a farmer in Salfit Governorate.

The commission also reported that attacks carried out by Israeli forces and colonists on agricultural crops during August 2026 affected 21,508 trees, including 19,375 olive trees, highlighting the scale of damage to the agricultural sector and Palestinian farmers’ livelihoods.

Israeli attacks and restrictions impede farmers’ access to their land or prevent them from harvesting their crops, threatening their sources of income and inflicting substantial economic losses.

Israeli colonists obstructed medical teams in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron yesterday, while others damaged agricultural crops and irrigation lines in the town of Beit Ummar, north of the governorate.

Activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that a group of colonists intercepted vehicles carrying medical teams affiliated with the Palestinian Medical Relief Society and attempted to prevent them from reaching Khirbet al-Majaz in Masafer Yatta to provide medical services to residents.

In Wadi al-Sheikh, in Beit Ummar, colonists further caused damage to crops and cut irrigation pipes belonging to Iyad al-Allami.

On October 15th, Israeli colonists began levelling Palestinian-owned land inside the former Sanur military camp, which Israeli forces evacuated in 2005 and which is located on land belonging to the town of Jaba, south of Jenin.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has said that its safety and security personnel operating in the Gaza Strip recorded multiple Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, alongside shelling, demolition-related explosions and gunfire from Israeli naval forces and ground troops across all governorates of the Strip.

Regarding the West Bank, the UN Human Rights Office reported that Israeli forces raided the offices of Palestinian civil society organisations and a medical compound in Ramallah on Tuesday, confiscating files and equipment and detaining Palestinian citizens.

The UN has called on Israeli authorities to end their tightening restrictions on Palestinian civic space.

The working class of Europe, the USA and Asia must now take general strike actions to halt this Israeli massacre of Palestinians.

The workers of the world must demand that their trade unions call for the immediate establishment of the State of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital, and that they call general strikes to secure the establishment of the Palestinian state.

Their leaders must be forced to make the call for a worldwide general strike.

Such a call will get an immediate and powerful answer – an end to Israeli genocide and Zionist occupation of Palestine.
