Deon Gayle WRP candidate for Streatham got a great response campaigning with her team in the centre of Brixton yesterday

‘PEOPLE are coming up to us in the street and telling us that they will vote WRP’, said Deon Gayle, WRP candidate for Streatham, yesterday.

Deon Gayle and her campaign team were on Brixton high street speaking to workers and youth.

Deon continued: ‘They agree with what we are doing, especially our policies on tuition fees, housing and the NHS.

‘People are determined to put an end to the attacks that have been carried out against the working class.

‘They have done nothing but attack the rights of the working class since they came to power.

‘There is a huge level of agreement about getting this government out and defending all the things that have been won by workers.’

Student Allise Khan told News Line: ‘I am coming out to join your campaign because I feel strongly that they should not close hospitals down and make them private.

‘Ordinary people will not be able to afford to use them. It will be like America.’

Local resident Rosetta Halstead said: ‘I find it hard to pay rent, especially as I get paid just once every two weeks.

‘My daughter is doing her best but she is working just three days a week and most of her money goes on child care.

‘I do not like the way that Lambeth Council is changing Brixton. They are just thinking about what they can make from it.

‘They are not considering people and their needs.

‘They are squeezing the life out of Brixton and they are breaking families apart with their policies.

‘I had some mental health issues and I was doing some art therapy. When this ends they have nothing lined up to follow it.

‘I am going to vote for Deon because I am against all of these cuts.’
