Palestinians announce blood donation campaign for Syrian army

DAMASCUS, A blood donation campaign titled ‘A Drop of Blood from Damascus to Aleppo’ was organized in Damascus in appreciation of the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army reports the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The participants in the campaign, comprising youths from the Palestinian Youth of Return Movement, the Homeland Youth Movement, Syria’s Youth Imprint association and the Syrian Family Forum, expressed readiness to offer all kinds of help to their homeland to repel the aggression targeting it.

‘Syria has offered precious sacrifices for the Palestinians and their cause over the past decades, and donating blood by Palestinians is an acknowledgement of this favour,’ Fadi al-Mallah, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Youth of Return Movement told SANA.

‘This campaign is the starting point for forming a group which brings together friends of Syria from 28 Arab and foreign countries,’ al-Mallah said.

Anas Younes, Chairman of Syria’s Youth Imprint board of secretaries, said the campaign comes in appreciation of the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army and to ensure a sufficient amount of blood for hospitals.

Journalist Ahd Sharifa, Chairwoman of the Syrian Family Forum, said that participation in the campaign is intended to offer the minimum of help to the injured, as it is the least one can offer to stand in the face of the aggression targeting the homeland.

Dr Bahjat Akroush, Director of Shifa (Cure) Programme for supporting the families of martyrs, said that the Syrian people constitute undivided fabric, adding that the campaign is an expression of the Syrians’ love of their homeland.

Sheikh Aref Monzer said that his participation in the campaign is meant to express appreciation for the Syrian Arab army for Syria to remain strong and unbowed.

Fares Moshalli, a blood-donor, hailed the organisation of such activities as a token of love and appreciation that gives the youth the opportunity to contribute in confronting the aggression against Syria.

On a relevant note, a campaign was launched by the Palestinian Red Crescent to donate blood as a sign of solidarity with Syria and the Syrian Arab Army, with the participation of figures from several Palestinian cities including occupied Jerusalem.

Participants, who included Palestinian freedom fighters, religious figures, activists, literary figures and liberated Syrian freedom fighter Sedki al-Maket, stressed that the crisis in Syria should be resolved by Syrians through dialogue.

Also, the Palestinian Popular Committee for Defending Syria in occupied Palestine announced a blood donation campaign for the Syrian Arab Army started on Saturday January 26th.

The committee said that the Syrian Arab Army, the Syrian people and national leadership, the Palestinian Liberation Army and the Palestinian people at al-Yarmouk Camp are all facing a decisive war against Zionist and colonial schemes.

The statement stressed that the national and patriotic stances of Syria are the target of those schemes, and the Arab reality and the Palestinian Cause will be affected by the repercussions of those schemes.

Syria’s Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi on Monday stressed that the government is keen to provide all support to Syrians who were forced to leave their houses because of the acts of the armed terrorist groups.

During his meeting with Head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Attar, Premier al-Halqi highlighted the importance of cooperation between the government, the SARC and the civil societies so as to provide relief to those affected.

For his part, Dr al-Attar expressed appreciation for the support provided by the government to the SARC, adding that the organisation has plans to provide all kinds of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people outside the country.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Army continued its offensive against the terrorist groups.

A unit of the Armed Forces on Monday restored security and stability to Ared al-Khaleej residential area in Daraya city in the Damascus Countryside.

A number of terrorists, who were committing killing and sabotage acts against citizens were killed.

A second unit inflicted losses upon terrorists who were carrying out acts of murder and robbery in the al-Jamiyat neighbourhood and al-Fashoukh farms in Daraya, destroying three cars along with the weapons and ammo inside them and eliminating a number of terrorists including Ammar Qazzah, Mohammad al-Sheikh, Ahmad Alian and Anwar Jaber.

Another unit destroyed two cars equipped with machineguns near the railway in Daraya, killing and injuring the terrorists near them.

An army unit killed terrorists who were targeting places of worship and private properties of the locals in al-Sayyda Zeinab area and attacking citizens around al-Sayyda Zeinab shrine in the province.

All the terrorists were killed in the area around the shrine, as security and stability were restored to it.

Army units inflicted heavy losses upon armed terrorist groups that attempted to attack civilians in Khan al-Sheeh and Drousha farms in the province.

A number of terrorists were killed and their hideouts were destroyed along with their weapons and ammunition used in their terrorist acts.

An army unit destroyed a pickup with all the terrorists inside in Allajat area in Daraa countryside.

Also, in Basr al-Harir in the countryside of the province, army units inflicted heavy losses upon the armed terrorist groups and destroyed a number of their hideouts, killing the terrorists inside and destroying their weapons and ammunition.

A clash broke out on Monday between two armed terrorist groups in Yabroud area in Damascus Countryside following a dispute over sharing the loot and items stolen from the locals and public and private institutions, which resulted in the killing of a number of terrorists and the injury of others.

The clash resulted in the killing of a number of terrorists, among them the leader of one of the armed terrorist groups, Saleh Mohammad Salem, nicknamed ‘al-Khadrah’ and terrorist Nawras al-Refae, and the injury of others.

A unit of the armed forces targeted a terrorists’ gathering in Jobar area in Homs, killing and injuring a number of terrorists.

The terrorists Mohammad Bakkar, Ghiyath al-Rifa’I, Maher Reslan, Qusia Edewi and Hani al-Hussein were identified among the dead.

Elsewhere, an army unit confronted on Monday armed terrorist groups that attempted to attack a military point in Deir-Ezzor Province, inflicting heavy losses upon them.

All the members of the armed groups were killed or injured, as their vehicles, weapons and ammunition were destroyed.

Armed Forces units carried out a series of operations on Sunday night targeting terrorist gatherings and hideouts in Bannesh, Maartamsrin, Harbanosh, and Kafr Shalaya in Idleb countryside.

The operations resulted in the elimination of a number of terrorists, the injuring of others, and the destruction of the vehicles they had been using.
