THE sight of Danish embassies burning in Beirut and Damascus leaves no doubt as to the depth of anger of Muslim people at the imperialist arrogance involved in the publishing of the Danish cartoons, ridiculing their religion.

The reason for this is that in many cases their religion is all that they have been allowed to keep by the imperialist powers – and now this is under attack, as well.

The eruption of mass anger is a product, not just of the cartoons, but of the humiliation of the Muslims over the last 58 years, in particular, since the founding of the state of Israel.

This state was established through the ethnic cleansing of at least half of Palestine, and every year since 1948 Israel has killed thousands of Palestinians and Arabs.

Yet it is hailed as a democracy, has been allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, and has been allowed to attempt the establishment of a ‘greater’ Israel by annexing a big chunk of the West Bank.

Currently, it is threatening a pre-emptive military strike against the Muslims of Iran.

This is after the US-UK attack on Iraq, where up to 100,000 Iraqis have been slaughtered.

However, the humiliation of the Muslims continues, with the threats to attack Syria, and the notice that has been served on the Palestinian people that they should not have elected the Hamas movement to be their government, and that it will not be allowed to govern Palestine unless it recognises the state of Israel.

What arrogance, from states that called the USSR the ‘evil empire’ and openly campaigned for its overthrowal.

The publication of the Danish cartoons was the last straw.

It is interesting that in the middle of the upsurge of anger, the police in London did not seek to arrest extreme right-wing Islamists who called for the ‘massacre of unbelievers’, and for the destruction of the people of Europe, and even tried to prevent them from being photographed. They were allowed to parade wearing imitation explosive belts, much to the anger of many Muslims taking part in the same demonstration.

Why did this happen? The answer must surely be that at least some of these right-wing Islamists were the rising stars of the MI5 recruitment campaign amongst Muslims, busily establishing their ultra ‘revolutionary’ credentials, all the better to become provocateurs and star state anonymous witnesses in the future.

The state is not opposed to developing antagonism between Muslim and other British workers.

This would allow the state to practice its basic tactic of divide and rule over the working class, using summary state justice as one of its weapons.

We condemn the publication of the Danish cartoons, as we condemn the refusal to allow Palestinians to establish their own state, or the refusal to allow Iran to carry out its nuclear energy policy.

We call for the unity of the working class in Britain and throughout Europe, with the question of nationality or religion being irrelevant.

The only way to resolve the world crisis that has been caused by capitalism and imperialism is through mobilising and uniting the working class of the world behind the revolutionary party to carry through a socialist revolution.

This will expropriate the bourgeoisie and bring in a a socialist planned economy and socialism, to end the demonising of whole nations and peoples carried out by the imperialists to aid their exploitation.
