British Tamil Students Suratharsan Sarakumaraval aged 21 and Praranesuraran Subramanian aged 28, lie in a weakened state outside the Houses of Parliament vowing ‘Hunger strike till we breathe our last breath’, in an attempt to force British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to broker an immediate and permanent ceasefire and stop the genocide of Tamils in northern Sri Lanka.
Thousands of Tamils are continuing to occupying the green outside Parliament since their blockade of Westminster Bridge was forcibly moved on by the police.
The two students have not taken any food or water since Monday and are therefore in immediate danger of slipping into a coma and dying.
The students’ ‘Action Plan Needed Immediately’ demands:
‘1. Immediate and permanent ceasefire.
2. Food and medical aids should be allowed to reach the civilians immediately with international monitoring committees and allow mercy mission to Vanni.
3. UN secretary Ban Ki Moon and UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown arrange to meet our representatives.
4. Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam are our sole representatives and UK government should lift the ban on LTTE
5. UN should call for an immediate referendum to the Tamils regarding whether they want a separate nation or to remain as Sri Lanka.
Otherwise there will be a hunger strike till we breath our last breath.’
