‘WE are not going to live with a nuclear North Korea, we are not going to accept it,’ US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said yesterday, on behalf of arrogant US imperialism, threatening war to destroy a workers’ state which has long been on the US’ ‘axis of evil’ hit list.
Demanding subservience from North Korea, Hill continued to try to dictate in his role as the spokesman for the would-be ruler of the planet saying: ‘It can have a future or it can have these weapons. It cannot have both.’
The US statement came after North Korea, announced on Tuesday that it would conduct its first nuclear test.
Hill carried on threatening, saying ‘We would have no choice but to act resolutely to make sure that the DPRK understood – and to make sure that any other country understands – that this is a very bad mistake.’
In fact it is not a question of taking action to warn ‘any other country’ seeking nuclear weaponry, since the US has never objected, or taken action against countries that accept its domination and acquire and test nuclear weapons.
North Korea said on Tuesday it would be compelled to carry out a test at an unspecified date and under safe conditions, in response to the ‘threat of nuclear war and sanctions’ from the United States.
The North has boycotted the talks since November over US financial sanctions imposed in September last year.
The UN Security Council has failed to agree a response to North Korea’s announcement.
Again, in another exhibition of US imperialist arrogance and bluster, Bolton the US ambassador to the UN declared: ‘We will find out in the experts’ meeting this afternoon what North Korea’s protectors on the council are going to do,’ referring to China and Russia.
Meanwhile, Russia called on North Korea to exercise restraint on nuclear tests.
In fact, the US continues to menace North Korea with nuclear weapons from its army, navy and air forces which threaten North Korea’s security 24 hours a day from bases in South Korea, Japan and throughout the Pacific Ocean area.
To underline its aggressive intentions against North Korea, the US refuses to sign a non-aggression treaty with it, meaning that the North Korean armed forces are in a state of full alert for 24 hours every day.
Meanwhile, the US and the UK have thousands of nuclear weapons, and far from seeking talks aimed at securing a nuclear free planet, are working to develop new generations of nuclear weapons and the means of delivering them to their target.
The policy of the United States is that only itself and its key allies should have nuclear weapons and be free to test then as required.
The US and the UK have assisted Israel in building an arsenal of over 200 nuclear weapons, plus other weapons of mass destruction that are in Israel’s possession.
To ensure Israel’s military superiority in the Middle East, the US actively opposes all Arab calls for the region to be turned into a nuclear free zone.
Pakistan and India, two of the US’ allies, have recently acquired nuclear weapons and have tested them, and in Pakistan’s case tried to sell nuclear secrets on a black market.
The US reserves its spleen for Iran and North Korea, states that resist its plans for a ‘New World Order’. Both countries, and indeed all countries have the right to defend themselves against the threats, and intentions, of the nuclear powered imperialist states to destroy them.
For that reason the News Line insists that North Korea, Iran, if it wishes, and all anti-imperialist states, such as Venezuela, are entitled to possess nuclear weapons, and to test them as required, as long as the threat from the nuclear armed imperialist states exists.
There will only be a nuclear bomb free world when capitalism and imperialism have been overthrown by the victory of the world socialist revolution.
Until that time all anti-imperialist states must have the right to possess and test nuclear weapons.
