Arm Ukrainian workers! Red Army must chase the junta out of Kiev!

THE UK-US-EU backed counter-revolution is now in full swing in eastern Ukraine, where no deed is too foul for their stormtroopers of the Right Sector.

The highest casualty toll so far is reported in the city of Odessa where 46 people died in the Trade Unions House massacre – either smothered or burnt to death with over 200 injured.

Many people died instantly having been poisoned by an unidentified substance, the UNIAN news agency reported on Saturday.

‘Many people died by jumping from the fourth and fifth floors, while others died of carbon monoxide or burned to death … I was at the accident scene and saw a great number of dead people. It was evident that they died instantly, very quickly,’ the agency quoted Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Yarema as saying.

‘This means that some substance burned which generated gas and this gas quickly affected people who lost consciousness and died on the spot,’ Yarema told journalists at a briefing in Odessa.

Meanwhile, workers are on duty on the roadblocks around Slavyansk, and are waiting for the storming of the city in the coming hours. The attack is widely expected following the freeing of the OSCE inspectors earlier this week.

The Ukrainian military has also started an operation against workers in the city of Mariupol, south-eastern Ukraine, as well as the town of Konstantinovka, according to local self-defence activists.

It has also occupied the city of Kramatorsk after an assault, local self-defence forces have said. Hospitals are ‘overcrowded with injured’, while ten people died in fighting overnight and two were ‘killed by snipers’.

This bloody counter-revolution is being carried out by a Kiev junta that came to power through a coup that was paid for and backed by the UK, the EU and the USA.

The same forces are now backing the murderous action of the Ukrainian army and the Right Sector against the trade unions. The object is to impose the illegal regime by terror onto the whole of the Ukraine, and then to duplicate the action in next door Belarus. If that is accomplished, the imperialist powers will be halfway to Moscow without losing a single one of their soldiers.

It is the world capitalist crisis that is driving the bosses of the world to attack the workers in their own countries at the same time as they are taking action to restore capitalism in Ukraine and then Russia.

The workers of the world must oppose these attacks. Our slogan must be that the enemy is at home, in the UK, the US and the EU.

The trade unions in the West must tell their governments that they will not tolerate this onslaught on Ukraine and will mobilise general strikes to bring them down to stop the war if they do not quit interfering in Ukraine.

For the Russian workers the issue is crystal clear. The battle of Ukrainian workers is their battle and they must see to it that Russia arms the Ukrainian workers immediately. At the same time, the Red Army must march on Kiev and evict the junta and send it packing to London, Brussels and Washington.

The time to do this is now, while the class enemy is relatively weak, and the EU depends on Russian gas. The lesson of the 1930s is that when fascism was allowed to grow strong it cost 40 millions of Russian workers their lives as well as millions of other workers to put an end to it.

The workers of the world must act now to smash the Kiev junta and support Ukrainian workers, a Soviet Ukraine, and the reconstitution of the USSR.

What the situation requires is a massive explosion of the world socialist revolution.
