THE Tory-led coalition have launched an unprecedented attack on youth after endorsing a Transport Research paper that proposes that young drivers under the age of 30 will face a curfew between 22.00 and 05.00 unless a passenger aged over 30 is in their car.

It also means an under-30-year-old man or woman with a young family will not be able to take the kids and their partner (if he or she is under 30) out in the car.

Young people from 16 to 30 are in fact to be harassed into giving up their car!

Ministers are due to publish proposals in a Green Paper following the Transport Research Laboratory recommendations.

Even though the young drivers have passed their driving test, they will not be considered to have a full licence. Instead, they will have a 12-month probationary license and will have to jump through all manner of hoops – including at least 100 hours of daytime and 20 hours of night-time practice under supervision – to pass the ‘learner stage’ and receive their full licence.

Other proposals include a ban on all mobile phone use, including hands-free phones, and a lower alcohol limit. The Tory-led coalition wants to have millions of youth under their thumb and frightened to even leave home!

This attack is only one of many vicious attacks that the Tory-led coalition has singled out youth to receive.

In fact, the government is exposing its pathological fear of an entire generation that have absolutely no future under capitalism and hates this system and hates this government and will fight to remove it, along with their out-of-date capitalist system.

They are trying to crush the youth. The latest figures from the Department of Work and Pensions show that 1.09 million youth between the ages of 16 and 24 are unemployed. The Tory ‘solution’ is to force youth to work for free in compulsory ‘work placement’ schemes or force them to attend the Job Centre every day, without any benefits at all, in an attempt to permanently humiliate young people.

Cameron was frothing at the mouth as he launched his war against young people in his speech to the Tory party conference. He said: ‘Today it is still possible to leave school, sign on, find a flat, start claiming housing benefit and opt for a life on benefits. It’s time for bold action here.’

The ‘bold action’ he is talking about is to stop all under-25s from receiving housing benefits, forcing them on to the streets.

Under-35s will be restricted to being squashed into a one-bedroom bed-sit.

The Tory government has also launched a vicious attack on university students. not satisfied in raising the fees to £9,000 a year, Oxford University is now pushing fees of £17,000 a year for all the Russel Group of Universities, leaving students drowning in a sea of debt for the rest of their lives.

What is crystal clear is that this government hates and fears youth as a revolutionary generation.

On the second anniversary of the 2011 August uprising sparked by the police shooting of Mark Duggan in Tottenham, the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, Hugh Orde let slip his fear of what’s round the corner. he said: ‘Should an event happen or look like it’s going to happen, we can mobilise far more quickly.’ He made it clear that the medicine used would be water cannon, rubber bullets and then live rounds.

Damian McBride, writing about his time as a spin doctor for Prime Minister Gordon Brown who was in office during the 2008 financial collapse, wrote that Brown also feared revolution breaking out on the streets of the UK. He told McBride: ‘We’d have to think: do we have curfews, do we put the Army on the streets, how do we get order back?’

The ruling class in Britain is acutely aware of its own weakness. It fears and hates the millions of youth because these youth know that they are being treated like dirt under capitalism, since it cannot afford them a decent life.

The only effect that this treatment has is to make them angrier and angrier and more determined to take up the struggle for a socialist revolution.

All those young people who hate this capitalism system should join the Young Socialists, and build up the Workers Revolutionary party to lead the British socialist revolution.
